Post-Op Nurse is a private nursing service providing bespoke post-operative nursing care to patients in their own homes. Delivered by a highly skilled, professional Registered Nurse with nearly 30 years of acute NHS clinical experience, your progress will be closely monitored giving you peace of mind.

My name is Portia and I started Post-Op Nurse in October 2022 as I wanted to offer patients an alternative to being discharged without follow up. I have extensive experience caring for Cardiothoracic, Colorectal, Orthopaedic, High Dependency, Acute Medical and General Surgical patients.

During a "no-rush" home visit, patients can expect to have a head-to-toe nursing assessment, observing for signs of post-op complications such as blood clots (DVT/PE), infections, sepsis, acute kidney injury (AKI) and wound infections. Patients are advised on how to manage their pain, medication regimes, wound and catheter care, along with advice on mobilising, nutrition, hydration and elimination.

I am genuinely passionate about excellent patient care and understand the emotional and physical assault surgery can have on patients and their significant others.
