Heavy Gretel
Captured

Heavy Gretel is a gorgeous arts, gifts and homewares shop in Warwick Street. It's a 'must visit' destination in a buzzing location in the centre of town, bursting with nearby cafes, bars and eateries and flanked with galleries. Hanna is the masterful owner/curator, pulling together jewellery, art, plants, throws, ceramics, candles, cards and quirky items you never knew you needed until you see them. In fact my Independent Worthing desk has no less than 3 items sitting on it right now that I like to have around me while I work! Hanna has a background in jewellery making, design and lecturing...and is really lovely and approachable. Her partner Bob runs Noble Rose tattoo studio upstairs.
We chose Heavy Gretel for this month's shoot, as we think that what Hanna has done with her business is truly inspirational: the shop is a real highlight in Worthing, and Hanna is an absolute pioneer with a passion for supporting local producers and makers, and a fantastic, forward-thinking and fresh energy that both manages to be cool and give you a virtual hug at the same time. She takes a 'conscious consumption' approach - thoughtfulness about the environment, fair trade, slow fashion and a 'shop local' ethos are at the heart of what she's about.
Well done Hanna and Heavy Gretel!
