In our first home match of the 2026/27 season against Forest Green Rovers, the 27-year-old registered his 350th appearance for the Rebels, taking him within touching distance of entering our All-Time Top Five Appearance Makers in the Club’s history.
With the captain’s armband firmly equipped, the all-action full-back had privilege of lifting the National League South title back in April – the highest honour the Club has achieved in our 140-year history.
In that title-winning season, Colbran scored a staggering nine goals in all competitions in the right flank of defence. Included amongst these goals was important strikes in the home victories over Salisbury, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Hemel Hempstead and Chesham United, while also netting a dramatic late equaliser in our first match of 2026 – a 2-2 draw with Chippenham Town at Woodside Road. Currently, his goal tally stands at 40 goals for the Club in 362 matches – across multiple competitions and levels of the English Football pyramid.
His spell with the Club is now in it’s tenth year, after resigning for the Reds from Loxwood in 2016, but his association stretches even further having represented the Mackerel Men at Under 18 level.
The defender scored his first senior goal for the Club against Needham Market in April 2018 and picked up the Managers’ Player of the Year award at the conclusion of that term, before repeating the trick in 2023 again under Adam Hinshelwood. He also added the Supporters’ 2022/23 Player of the Award for good measure, alongside reaching 200 Worthing FC appearances in a dramatic penalty shootout win over arch-rivals Bognor Regis Town in the Sussex Senior Cup final.
Colbran then hit the milestone of 250 appearance sagainst Weston-super-Mare on the final day of the 2023/24 season, before going on to record three century of matches in Red against Eastbourne Borough on Good Friday ’25. That campaign also ended with individual recognition, as he shared the Manager’s Player of the Year Award with Sam Beard.
Throughout his time on the South Coast, the skipper has played in a variety of positions and has been an integral part of the sides that have won promotion from the seventh tier, consolidated the Club as National League South regulars, lifted the sixth tier title to send the Rebels to the highest point in their history, prior to leading his teammates to a commendable start to their inaugural campaign in Non-League’s top level.
On extending his stay in West Sussex for the foreseeable future, Colbran revealed: “I’m delighted to get another two years sorted with the Club I have spent a massive part of my career with.”
“Winning the league and promotion last season has only given myself and the group more motivation to keep pushing for that next step.
“I’m really excited to keep pushing with the Club and see where it takes us.”
Captain Colbran is going nowhere.
