The former Dorking Wanderers shot-stopper has embarked on the next step of his career, taking the leap into National League football at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium.
Foulkes will be a familiar figure to many Worthing supporters, with the 25-year-old turning out for several rivals over the years. Most recently and notably, Foulkes held the position of number one at Dorking Wanderers for two years, where he was regarded as one of Non-League’s finest netminders.
Born in Sussex, the young prospect was snapped up by Hull City as a teenager and was sent out on multiple loans at Pickering FC to aid his development.
The ‘keeper then swapped Humberside for Derbyshire, with a move to Pride Park – the home of Derby County. Loans at Ilkeston Town and Kettering Town would follow in due course.
After two years on the books at Pride Park, the Englishman relocated back down to the South Coast, penning a deal with Eastbourne Borough.
A solitary successful season with the Sports garnered plenty of interest from surrounding sides and convinced Dorking Wanderers to snap up his services.
In two National League South campaigns, Foulkes accrued almost a century of appearances for Marc White’s side, barely missing a match in consecutive campaigns where his side came agonisingly close to lifting the league title.
Last campaign, he collected a treble of individual accolades, winning the Supporters Player of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season and Bunch of Amateurs Player of the Season for a stellar term in the net at Meadowbank.
He kept nine clean sheets for the Wanderers and produced several inspiring saves in hostile environments over the last 12 months.
Manager Adam Hinshelwood shared his thoughts after securing the signature of the sought-after goalkeeper: “We became very familiar with Harrison’s abilities during our encounters with Dorking last season and are over the moon to have him on our side going forward.”
On his move, Harrison said: “I’m so happy to get it done; it was all quite fast and smooth, and I’m buzzing to get going now.”
“Knowing that the fans are that supportive of the club only attracts players, and it was a big attraction for why I wanted to get this deal done.”
“Stepping into the National League, that’s where I want to be now in my career. It’s going to be an exciting season and one I think we’ll all be ready for and the fixtures coming out just makes you even more excited.”
Harrison will be available for selection in between the sticks for tomorrow’s friendly away to Frome Town.
