Undeniably one of the leading stars of last season’s league title triumph, ‘Packo’ was an omnipotent force across the middle of the park for Adam Hinshelwood’s side.
Operating predominately from the base of midfield, while also filling in at full-back and central defence when required, the 24-year-old recorded double digits for assists in the National League South.
Key performances in crucial periods for the Mackerel Men resulted in the Englishman picking up a medal come the end of the season.
His consistent displays were recognised at our 2025/26 End-of-Season Awards, with Adam Hinshelwood naming the former Brighton & Hove Albion academy prospect at his Player of the Season.
On the news of Packo’s new contract, Hinsh said: “I’m very pleased that Sam has committed his future to the Club.”

Arriving at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium in the summer of 2024, Packham is now closing in on a century of appearances for the Rebels, with his 49 appearances across all competitions last term taking his total to 90 showings in a Red shirt.
Our number 16 scored his only league goal for the Club to date in our opening away outing of the last season at local rivals Horsham. With the score at 3-2, Packham delicately curled an unstoppable effort into the top corner to give his side a touch of insurance on the scoreline in what turned out to be our first three points of the title-winning campaign.

His only other goal so far for the Reds occurred in the 3-0 victory over Wimborne in the FA Cup Third Qualifying round, with his well-timed run ending with an emphatic volley into the net.
However, it was his endless supply of goals that has truly endeared himself to the Woodside faithful, with 11 recognised assists in his league exploits.
Notably, he registered a pair of set-ups in the dramatic 5-4 defeat to Salisbury from centre-half, with his perfectly-weighted passes from deep displaying his technical quality and masterful vision.
But it would be his inch-perfect set-piece delivery in the memorable Good Friday success over Eastbourne Borough that has truly been etched into the long-term memory.
With the game in its final embers, our number 16 precisely picked out Joe Cook in the box, whose header bypassed the goalkeeper to send Woodside into raptures.
Worthing fans will hopefully have plenty more moments like that to celebrate, as the technician has committed his long-term future to the Club.
