Throughout pre-season, Paul has occupied a seat in the dugout and has helped contribute to a meticulous programme of training sessions and an unbeaten summer of friendlies at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium as the Reds gear up for a maiden campaign in the fifth-tier of English football.
Brother of Manager Adam Hinshelwood, the younger ‘Hinsh’ has previously held coaching roles as part of the backroom staff at Chichester City and Bognor Regis Town, including a stint as Assistant Manager at the latter last season.
In his playing days, the UEFA B Licence Coach turned out for some of the biggest teams across the South Coast including Torquay United and Havant & Waterlooville following a period of development during his formative years in Brighton & Hove Albion’s academy.
Towards the twilight of his time on the pitch, Paul began working as a Lecturer at Chichester College – a post he held for 12 years – educating the next generation of football coaches and sportsmen in the local area. In fact, former Worthing strikers Omar Bugiel and Ollie Pearce were two of countless young talents that have been nurtured by the newest addition to the coaching staff while at the college.
In 2023, he moved into the title of Teaching and Learning Manager, which now sees Hinshelwood oversee the sport and public services department at the college.
Speaking after his appointment, Paul stated: “I’m incredibly proud to be taking on this role at such an exciting time for the club.
“The philosophy and brand of football is something I closely identify with and having kept a very close eye on the club over the years I know what is expected. I’m looking forward to working with the staff and players to help us achieve our ambitions this season.”
Paul will work alongside Adam Hinshelwood and Assistant Manager Jon Meeney, with all three providing insight and expertise to the squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Sporting Director, Nathan Bowen, added: “Paul is an outstanding coach with a proven track record of developing players, while also possessing an excellent understanding of the standards, culture and style of football we are looking to continue to implement as we enter a new division.”
