The appointment reflects Shan’s prominent contribution since joining the Club and the continued evolution of our football infrastructure in line with our long-term ambitions and the demands of operating an outfit that complies with National League regulations.
Having played a pivotal role in developing and overseeing the Club’s football operations over the last two campaigns, Shan’s expanded remit will see him take on greater responsibility across football strategy and governance.
His new role encompasses operational leadership, budgeting and ensuring the Club are compliant with the newly-introduced Independent Football Regulator. Our new Football General Manager will continue to support and work closely with Football Director Nathan Bowen and Manager Adam Hinshelwood across all aspects of the First-Team, allowing players and staff to perform in an increasingly professional environment.
The creation of this role represents another important step in the Club’s ongoing commitment to building sustainable and high-performing football operations, which will support our long-term objectives.
Since joining the Club’s staff in 2024, Shan has played an integral part in the development of the infrastructure behind the scenes as the Club prepared to become a fifth tier side and transition into a professional Club.
Our FGM has a decade of experience working in leadership roles in football, having previously worked at Harlow Town, Bishop’s Stortford and Chelmsford City.
On his new role, Shan commented:“When I met with Barry and Nathan towards the end of the 2023/24 season, the Club had ambitions of becoming a full time professional outfit playing in the National League, which we achieved last season.
“I have really enjoyed the rollercoaster ride that has been the last two seasons and it’s been a pleasure to have played a small part in the journey.
“I am delighted to commit my future to the club by moving into this new role and cannot wait for what the future brings.”
