Ceres

Unwrapped

PUBLISHED: 10 September '21

In this week’s Independent Worthing: Unwrapped, we meet Simon Boyd of Ceres Health Store on Goring Road. Ceres is a very established independent Worthing business, having been going for over quarter of a century! Well done guys!

The team offer loads of experience and stock in their field of nutrition and complimentary wellbeing, in addition to supplying a wide range of household items and groceries. We didn’t realise until now but they also offer a range of alternative therapies such as intolerance testing, hypnotherapy, reflexology and massage.

Ceres works hard to care for the environment as well as the population of Worthing, with a good range of zero and reduced packaging options- brilliant.

So, read on for a little slice of the Ceres inside gen.

IW: What inspired you to start your own business?

SB: I wanted to help people to achieve higher levels of health and well-being and a health store seemed a great way to do this.

IW: What is the best thing about what you do?

SB: Getting to know our customers and their health issues and being able to spend the time advising them on appropriate products to help them to maintain their physical and mental health.

IW: What pearl of wisdom would you impart to anyone wanting to set up their own business?

SB: Read Jay Abrahams whose book -’Getting Everything You Can, Out of All You've Got’ is the best (in my opinion, and I've read a few thousand)!

IW: What are your ‘go to’ local businesses?

SB: Best Wishes, Goring Hardware, Ghodsi, Box Nails.

IW: What do you get up to in your spare time?

SB: I read and study philosophy and psychology and am a student of Bruce Lee's martial art Jeet Kune Do.

IW: What’s your guilty pleasure?

SB: Rachel Stevens.

IW: What’s your favourite way to start the day?

SB: I start the day listening to a talk on a topic I am currently interested in. Then I spend a few minutes grounding myself with some meditation.

IW: If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 things could you not do without?

SB: Books, Bruce Lee and music.

IW: What plans do you have for the future?

I want to write a book based on my years of reading into the human condition. My working title is "The 3 Errors".

IW: Anything else you would like to add?

SB: We are a local shop that has been established over 25 years. We have a hugely experienced and knowledgeable team that are always pleased to help.
