Wild Botanicals Floral Design
Unwrapped

This week Independent Worthing: Unwrapped focusses our unwavering indie loving eyes on the talented florist Helen Streeter from Wild Botanicals Floral Design. Helen featured in our Spotlight on florists a while back, and was a delight to get to know, then and now.
Helen has an impressive CV and a lot of experience working in some really well known and competitive environments, where you no doubt have to be really good to thrive. Luckily for us, Helen decided to set up her own fabulous business near Worthing. We love what she does, and she even holds the prize for wooing one of our esteemed admins away from a corporate flower subscription in favour of her indie one - and our admin hasn’t looked back!
So read on for a little glimpse into who Helen Streeter of Wild Botanicals is.
IW: Give us an elevator pitch for your business
HS: Hi I'm Helen, owner and florist of Wild Botanicals Floral Design home studio, based in Lancing, West Sussex. We provide wild garden inspired country bouquets, flower subscriptions and romantic natural style wedding flowers throughout West and East Sussex.
IW: What is your favourite thing about Worthing?
HS: I love Worthing as it is full of niche artisan shops and studios and has a community which really comes together!
IW: Describe your favourite type of day
HS: I love my job because every day is different, but my favourite part is handing over flowers and putting a smile on someone's face with what I've created- it’s so rewarding.
IW: What skill or talent would you most like to learn and why?
HS: I would love to learn calligraphy to give the personalised touch to gift cards and weddings
IW: Name one thing on your bucket list?
HS: To have my own studio space away from home one day to keep things separate, so I’m not tempted to answer emails at silly hours!!
IW: What does your perfect breakfast look like?
HS: I have a thing for crumpets at the moment with butter and jam- yum!
IW: What do you buy loads more of than other people, and why?
HS: I know it's hard to believe but florists are always in the DIY stores trying to be more eco and using mechanics for weddings that you can reuse; so lots of chicken wire, cable ties and an endless supply of moss!
IW: What gives you goosebumps?
HS: Handing over bridal flowers to a bride always gives me goosebumps... when you see they’re happy it's the best feeling in the world!
IW: Which season is your favourite and why?
HS: If I had to pick a season (it's so hard as flowers are all beautiful each season) it would have to be autumn/winter because the beautiful flowers that are around, like anemones, are a must! And crisp mornings with baggy jumpers and soup.
IW: What is the best thing about what you do?
HS: The people! I'm such a social butterfly and love hearing all the stories and amazing things customers have to say!
IW: What pearl of wisdom would you impart to anyone wanting to set up their own business?
HS: You can never have enough space! And believe in yourself; you would be surprised at what you can achieve
IW: What’s your favourite way to start the day?
HS: Tea, always Tea!!
