Breastfeeding Workshop - Worthing & St Richard's, Chichester (face-to-face)
You’re very welcome to attend on your own. Many parents come solo, and our midwives will ensure you feel comfortable and supported throughout the workshop. If your partner can attend, we encourage them to do so as we know how important a supportive partner can be to breastfeeding success.
No, this workshop is for all expectant and new parents, whether this is your first baby or you’ve breastfed before. Everyone is welcome.
Yes, absolutely. The workshop is suitable for any parent interested to learn more about breastfeeding and how to get it off to the best start.
We’ll discuss how breastfeeding works, positioning and attachment, responsive breastfeeding, the importance of skin-to-skin contact, how to collect colostrum towards the end of your pregnancy, and where to get support after your baby is born.
You can attend at any stage of pregnancy, but many parents find it most helpful in the second or third trimester.
The workshop is 3 hours long.
By car, follow directions to The Wickbourne Centre, BN17 7DZ. Parking is free in the Wickbourne Centre car park and along Clun Road. It is a ten minute walk from Littlehampton train station and the 700 Coastliner Route bus stops right outside.
The Wickbourne Centre has level access and is suitable for wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

Yes — this workshop is helpful for any parent considering giving breast milk to their baby. We will explains how lactation works and why establishing a strong milk supply in the early weeks is so important.
No, the workshop doesn’t cover formula feeding. However, you can speak one-to-one with your midwife about formula feeding during your community appointments, where they can give personalised support and answer any questions.
This class is for mothers and families booked to have their babies at the Worthing or St Richard's, Chichester hospitals only.
Partners and supporters are encouraged to attend as well and are included in a single booking. PLEASE NOTE: One ticket will cover two people.
If you change your mind, please cancel your booking via Eventbrite and make it available to others.
This is a 3-hour long face-to-face course covering all you need to know in order to get your breastfeeding journey off to the best start. In line with becoming a Unicef Baby Friendly accredited maternity department, if you are planning to formula feed please speak with your community midwife. Our team will have a one-to-one conversation with you about safe formula feeding when your baby is born.
About the Course
In this course we will discuss all you need to know to get your infant feeding journey off to the best start. We will cover the principals of good attachment and positioning, strategies to help overcome common challenges, understanding the anatomy and how the body makes milk, how to tell your baby is getting enough milk, the fourth trimester and normal new-born behaviour and much more!
Bring a beverage and pen and paper if you would like to take notes and we will see you there.
Please also bring a baby doll or a teddy to practice your feeding skills!
