Roman Villas in Sussex
A presentation by Dr David Rudling FSA
This talk will review the results of recent archaeological research regarding some of the Roman villas in Sussex. Several of these villas, such as those at Bignor, Eastbourne and at Southwick, were discovered and first investigated many years ago. Other sites, such as at Fishbourne, Barcombe and at Beddingham, are more recent discoveries. The talk will consider some of the contributions made by recent investigations to the general study of villa development, rural life, and the process of ‘romanisation’ in Roman Sussex.
Cost: Members: FREE | Non-members £4 (including refreshments)
